Initial Teacher Training

We work with a number of HEI ITT providers and offer training placements across the full range of subjects.  Our main partnerships are with Brunel University and Oxford Brookes University, but we also work with Reading University, Hertfordshire University and the OU from time to time.

We are happy to consider placements for PGCE trainees who live in the local area.

For PGCE application information, please contact the University you wish to work with in the first instance.

Graduate Teacher Programme

The GTP is a programme where trainee teachers work towards teaching the necessary standards within the school context.  We will consider applications in any subject area, but we are particularly interested in:

Physics
Chemistry
Technology
Maths
ICT

The application process is a lengthy one.  We are seeking to recruit quality applicants for September 2010.  Please email a letter of application to Eileen Fisher, Leader for Training School, at eileenfisher@chalfonts.org together with your CV.

The next stage of the process will be to spend a day at the College, discussing your plans and observing lessons.

This will be followed by a formal interview with the Principal and the Leader for Training School.

Please be aware that there are minimum requirements laid down by the TDA:

  • Degree level in the appropriate subject
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade C and above
  • A minimum of 5 days in school - we can help to arrange this

As a GTP you will be a member of staff at the College and you will be expected to follow a full training programme.
