Drama

“Life is a theatre set in which there are but few practicable entrances.”
Victor HugoLes Misérables

Drama and the performing arts have always been embraced by Chalfonts Community College. With regular drama and dance clubs and classes running weekly and 3 fully equipped studios in which to practice, you will never be bored. Over the past few years, we have introduced many opportunities for students to be involved in the performing arts, such as; participating in Shakespeare Schools Festival or in Team Dance Competition. We also hold a large annual school production that anyone can audition for, this is normally a well-known musical that is a lot of fun! If you decide to choose GCSE or A Level Drama, you will also have the opportunity to attend annual theatre trips. Blood Brothers, A Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and Shakespeare plays are amongst some of the productions we have taken our students to see. If you choose BTEC Performing Arts, you are able to experience performing in professional theatres, whilst developing skills in singing, acting and dance. There are also lots of opportunities to be involved with the technical side of theatre, including lighting, sound, directing, choreographing and costume. Drama builds confidence, collaboration and presenting skills. It also allows students to become more aware of the people around them and the way the world works.
