Year 12 World Challenge students hiked, zip-lined and worked a voluntary project in Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
On the 18th September the Year 11’s participated in a Great People Day. The boys worked with the Great men organisation and the girls participated in speed-networking with inspirational women.
In preparation for the Summer camp in Beijing, seven Year 10 students are currently attending an intensive course in Mandarin. They will be the only delegation representing Great Britain in the Beijing Foreign Studies University in Beijing and will be joined by eight other groups from Poland, Russia, Spain, Germany, Australia, Belgium and Hungary.
Students have been making excellent progress thanks to the teachers from the Confucius Institute in London and are now more than ready for their trip.
They will share their culture with students from other countries and as well as developing their knowledge of the Mandarin Language they will be exposed to the culture of China and visit sites such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen square and much more.
On Tuesday 30th June we took our athletics squads from years 7-10 to the annual District Championships at Hillingdon Athletics Stadium. On what was a swelteringly hot day, all of our athletes performed extremely well, which resulted in our school finishing in 3rd position overall! Particular congratulations should go to both the year 10 girls and boys teams, who finished 2nd in their competitions and therefore made a massive contribution to our overall result!
Year 9 Curriculum Leaders had a fantastic experience visiting the Degree Show at Central St Martins College. As well being able to try a virtual reality car simulator, they saw work from graphics, product design, fashion, ceramics and graphical communication. They spoke to students about their work and lecturers about employment opportunities. The visit exceeded the students expectations about careers in the creative industries.
