Employability Skills Day Inspires Future Career Pathways

A day of workshops, one-to-one interviews, and discussions with prospective employers.
Our recent Employability Skills Day was a huge success, providing students with an invaluable opportunity to explore future career pathways and engage directly with industry professionals. Over 40 local and national companies attended our careers fair, generously giving their time to educate, inspire and motivate our students, while offering real insight into the wide range of options available to them beyond school.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to all the wonderful organisations who supported the day. Events like this simply would not be possible without the commitment and enthusiasm of our employer partners, and their involvement plays a vital role in helping our students make informed decisions about their futures.
We were also delighted to welcome our local councillors, Councillor Isobel Darby and Councillor Karen Dickson, who showed their continued support for our school and reinforced the importance of the community working together to support young people as they prepare for life beyond education.
A special thank-you goes to Mr Mike Clare, founder of Dreams, who not only spoke with and inspired students at the careers fair but also conducted one-to-one mock interviews with several students, providing them with invaluable advice and feedback.
The day offered much more than a traditional career fair. Students benefited from interview practice and constructive feedback, alongside a variety of engaging workshops that gave them insight into what actually happens within different industries. These included sessions focused on careers in the NHS, construction, criminology, and many more, as well as practical guidance on managing money as a student and understanding the benefits and differences of apprenticeships.
Finally, a huge thank you to our Careers Team, Ms Vinten and Ms Gilbert, whose hard work, dedication and careful planning made this fantastic day possible. Their commitment continues to make a real difference in supporting and preparing our students for their next steps.
