Drama
“Life is a theatre set in which there are but few practicable entrances.”
Victor Hugo, Les Misérables
Drama and the performing arts have always been embraced by Chalfonts Community College. With regular drama and dance clubs and classes running weekly and 3 fully equipped studios in which to practice, you will never be bored. Over the past few years, we have introduced many opportunities for students to be involved in the performing arts, such as; participating in Shakespeare Schools Festival or in Team Dance Competition. We also hold a large annual school production that anyone can audition for, this is normally a well-known musical that is a lot of fun! If you decide to choose GCSE or A Level Drama, you will also have the opportunity to attend annual theatre trips. Blood Brothers, A Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and Shakespeare plays are amongst some of the productions we have taken our students to see. If you choose BTEC Performing Arts, you are able to experience performing in professional theatres, whilst developing skills in singing, acting and dance. There are also lots of opportunities to be involved with the technical side of theatre, including lighting, sound, directing, choreographing and costume. Drama builds confidence, collaboration and presenting skills. It also allows students to become more aware of the people around them and the way the world works.
WE WILL ROCK YOU - the next whole school production at Chalfont's Community College will be showing on 12, 13, 14th February 2025. Tickets are available from this website (put link here). This whole school production encompasses some of our wonderfully talented and committed students and it is brought together by the award winning director, Miss Dearing. 'We Will Rock You' is a musical which uses the famous music of QUEEN. It tells the story of a group of rock rebels fighting against 'Globalsoft' and it's boss, the Killer Queen. They fight for freedom, individuality and the rebirth of rock music. Behind the scenes students are working to produce the stage set, lighting, sound, marketing, accounts and much more. It is a hugely enterprising activity for all involved and we really hope that you will want to support this event by coming along to see it. GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!
