UKMT Junior Maths Challenge 2017

On the 27th of April, the maths department invited students from Years 7 and 8 to sit the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge which is a national competition where students answer intriguing maths and logic questions. Although it is a multiple choice test, it is very, very tough!

Over 150,000 pupils from across the UK sat the Junior Challenge and in order to get gold, students have to be in the top 6% of the top 40% students nationally. This year we had two students that secured gold and our congratulations go to: Joseph Dunne in Year 8 and Isobel Griffiths in Year 7. Joseph also managed to get the ‘Best in School’ award.
The students achieved 2 gold, 10 silver and 18 bronze certificates in this year's Junior Challenge; setting a new record for the college.

Gold Award Winners: Joseph Dunne, Isobel Griffiths

Silver Award Winners: Harvey Wonnacott, Tyler Bell, Ella Andrews, Zain Samad, Ryley Campbell, Eve Taylor, Evie Mannakee, Seb Andersen, Katie Reid, Samuel Keen
