A Farewell Celebration at the 6th Form Art and Photography Exhibition

On the 21st June the Chalfonts Art Department welcomed parents, students and staff to the annual A-level sixth form Art and Photography Exhibition.

Students from Years 12 and 13 created a fantastic display of their paintings, photographs and sculptures made during their coursework and exam topics.

Year 13 students responded to the exam theme of Environment by producing high quality work ranging from photographs of figures in abandoned buildings to paintings showing the effect of the environment on the skin. Year 12s theme was Structure, where ideas ranged from making furniture to represent the family to images of deconstructed flowers; creative ideas were in abundance!

Leader for sixth form, Mr Way said “I say it every year and I don’t know how it’s possible, but the standard of work just keeps on getting higher and higher!”

The art and photography students have made 2017 a creative and inspiring year and enjoyed celebrating their success with Principal Mr Denial who was on hand to present certificates to the Year 13 students in recognition of their creative journeys. We wish the year 13s every success in their new ventures whether it is to university or the world of work and congratulate them on their creative achievements.

Phoebe Hedges won the annual prize of £100 for an outstanding body of work; presented by Meg Blunsdon from Chiltern Decorative Fine Art Society. Phoebe is going on to study Fine Art at Leeds Beckett University.

Year 12s are continuing the high standards set with even more creativity emerging on the easels and cameras in the Art department.
